Latin Nursery Rhyme: Tres Mures

Here's another Latin nursery rhyme to wrap up the week: it's my version of "Three Blind Mice," although, thanks to polysyllabic Latin, these mice don't have to be blind: they are just Tres Mures, "The Three Mice." You can find out more about this traditional nursery rhyme at Wikipedia. 

Here is one English version:

Three blind mice, three blind mice:

See how they run! See how they run!

They all ran after the farmer's wife.

She cut off their tails with a carving knife.

Did you ever see such a thing in your life

As three blind mice!

And here is my Latin version:

Tres mures, tres mures:

Ecce currunt! Ecce currunt!

Hi mures ad feminam volant,

Quae secat has caudas et cachinnat.

Mirabilius umquam quis viderat,

Quam tres mures?

Three mice, three mice:

Behold, they run! Behold, they run!

These mice fly towards the woman,

Who cuts their tails and cackles.

Who ever had seen something more marvelous

Than the three mice?
